Eligibility/Qualification
- A minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, Microbiome Science, or a related discipline.
- Preferred prior experience with anaerobic microbiology techniques.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm about microbiology and its societal implications.

Job Description
The PhD candidate will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Conduct a specified program of research under the supervision of Professor Aonghus Lavelle.
- Develop skills in microbiology, particularly in anaerobic bacteria isolation and culture.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams at APC Microbiome Ireland.
- Disseminate results through scientific articles and conferences.
- Participate in postgraduate training courses.
- Report research findings regularly.
- Engage in Educational and Public Engagement (EPE) activities.
- Occasionally supervise undergraduate and master’s students in the laboratory.
