PhD Studentship in Materials Chemistry Trinity College Dublin School of Chemistry invites applications for a fully funded 4-year PhD position in the Computational Catalysis and Energy Materials group. Led by Prof. Max García-Melchor, the group focuses on combining quantum chemical methods and artificial intelligence to design efficient electrocatalysts for green industrial syntheses. Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should possess a BSc or equivalent (minimum) in Chemistry, Physics, Computational Chemistry, Nanoscience, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Good oral and written communication skills in English are required, and previous experience in molecular modeling and programming is highly desirable.

Job Description:

PhD Studentship in Computational Materials Chemistry & Electrocatalysis

The selected candidate will work on a Science Foundation Ireland-funded project, collaborating with Prof. Max Garcia-Melchor, Prof. Paula Colavita, and Prof. Suresh Pillai. The research aims to develop novel electrode materials using quantum chemical methods and AI to enhance electrocatalysis for green hydrogen generation and bio-resource valorization. The work will be conducted in the School of Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin, offering a highly international and collaborative scientific environment. The project provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in computational modeling, electrocatalysis, and machine learning.
