Job Description:
PhD Studentship: Defining the Role of FOXA1 and Functional Residues in Pancreatic Cancer
The project focuses on understanding the role of FOXA1 in PDAC metastasis and characterizing the amino acids on FOXA1 essential for its metastatic potential. The research aims to identify post-translational modifications (PTMs) crucial for FOXA1 and the enzymes responsible for these PTMs. Additionally, the project will investigate protein complexes formed with FOXA1 during the transition from primary tumor to metastasis. The ultimate goal is to discover regulatory enzymes that could be potential drug targets for this deadly disease.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
- Previous experience in molecular biology and biochemistry.
- Some prior genomic experience, although not essential.
Funding: Candidates wishing to be considered for funding should indicate their interest on the application form. Potential funding sources include a Cancer Research UK studentship, which covers University and College fees and provides a stipend of £21,000 per annum for an initial 3-year period, with the possibility of additional funding if required.
