Description
The PhD candidate will work under the guidance of a diverse supervisory team to develop unique skills in experimental design for physiological and cognitive research, alongside computational modeling and machine learning approaches. The project will investigate individual and flock-level welfare in hens, promoting advancements in Precision Livestock Farming and Big Data applications in animal science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments to assess thermal stress responses in hens.
- Collaborate with industry partners, notably the Lakes Free Range Egg Company.
- Develop concepts and tools for welfare assessment.
