Machine Learning for Sustainable Electricity Markets (ML-SEM)
Location:
University of Southampton, Southampton, UK
Eligibility/Qualification:
Candidates must hold a very good undergraduate degree (at least a UK 2:1 honors degree or its international equivalent).
Description:
Machine learning (ML) is poised to transform sustainable electricity markets by optimizing resource allocation, enhancing grid stability, and integrating renewable energy sources. The ML-SEM project focuses on deploying ML techniques to study the effective integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, into the grid. This involves forecasting optimal geographical areas for renewable energy installation and optimizing their output alongside traditional sources, ensuring grid stability and minimizing costs. The project is part of the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Sustainability (SustAI), emphasizing diversity and inclusion in its research community.
