PhD Studentship – “PiezoMac”: The Monaghan Lab at Trinity College Dublin is offering a fully funded PhD studentship as part of the ERC Consolidator Grant PiezoMac project. The project aims to develop and apply novel materials to modulate immunomodulatory repair in cardiac tissue. The position offers a €25,000 annual stipend and full PhD registration fee coverage for 48 months.

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should have a primary degree in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with biomaterials experience or relevant laboratory skills such as cell culture, scaffold fabrication, or microscopy techniques. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Job Description:
- Develop materials-based approaches to modulate inflammation in cardiac tissue.
- Work in a highly interdisciplinary team spanning biomedical engineering, computer science, iPSC-culture, and in vitro cardiac models.
- Participate in groundbreaking research combining advanced microscopy, mechanical testing, and other biomaterial-related techniques.
- Contribute to the group’s research output in a collaborative and innovative environment.
