Study Area:
Chemistry

Scholarship Description:
The project focuses on using a combination of natural language processing (NLP) and high throughput simulations to build databases for polymer property prediction, aiding down-selection and exploration of new material solutions. The aim is to replace expensive and time-consuming experimental campaigns with efficient computational methodologies. Machine learning methods will identify regions of uncertainty in the parameter space, supplemented by targeted atomistic simulations such as molecular dynamics and/or Monte Carlo simulations. Initially, the project will focus on diffusion and solubility of gases in model polymers, with potential to explore other material properties.

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 2.1 honours degree or master’s in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or other relevant STEM degrees.
  • Pre-knowledge on molecular simulations, machine learning methods, or programming is desirable but not necessary.

Required Documents:

  • CV
