Scholarship Description:
PhD Studentship: The Role of Gut Microbiota in Regulating Tumour Cell Metabolism and Malignant Progression
Colorectal cancer poses a significant global health challenge, and this fully-funded PhD studentship aims to unravel the complexities of tumour progression. The project focuses on understanding how the gut microbiota, dietary factors, and metabolic alterations influence the transition of colorectal tumours from benign to malignant stages. The unique in vitro model allows for the exploration of factors influencing progression, contributing to early detection and intervention strategies.
Eligibility: Prospective applicants should have at least a 2:1 or equivalent degree in Biomedical Science, Molecular or Biological Science, or a related discipline. Ideally, candidates will hold or be working towards a postgraduate, research-based qualification. Experience in mammalian cell culture, microbiology, molecular biology, and/or metabolomics is advantageous. International students must have IELTS 7.0 or above.
Required Documents: Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- Research proposal
- All degree certificates and transcripts
- Proof of English language proficiency
How to Apply: Submit your application online using the reference number 2324-APR-HSS01. Ensure you upload all required documents, including your research proposal and proof of English proficiency. Provide details of two referees, with at least one being an academic referee from your highest degree-conferring institution.
Last Date: The application deadline is 17 January 2024.
