PhD Studentships in Regulation of Wheat Growth in Response to Climate Change
Climate change poses a significant threat to crop yield, with the potential to reduce wheat yields by over 5% for every 1°C increase in global temperature. This project focuses on the Phytochrome Interacting Factor (PIF) family in wheat, investigating mutants and overexpressing lines to understand their responses to light, drought, and increased temperatures. The research utilizes CRISPR-Cas technology to identify additional wheat PIF mutants, contributing to strategies for developing climate-resilient crop varieties.
Eligibility: Prospective candidates with a background in Biological Sciences, Plant Biology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. A keen interest in climate change, crop adaptation, and molecular biology is essential.
