PhD Studentships in Virology and Immunology: The Institute of Medical Virology at ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich invites applications for three fully-funded PhD studentships starting in 2025. We seek highly motivated students with expertise in molecular biology, virology, immunology, or related life science fields to join cutting-edge research projects in one of our three research groups. The available projects include HIV immunology and vaccine design, molecular biology of influenza viruses, and the interferon system in health and disease.

- Master’s degree in Life Sciences (Molecular Biology, Virology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or Biomedicine)
- Prior laboratory research experience in relevant fields
- Strong motivation and commitment to molecular virology and immunology research
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Description
Successful candidates will work in state-of-the-art laboratories, including Biosafety Level 3 facilities, and will be enrolled in the Microbiology and Immunology PhD program within the Life Science Zurich Graduate School. The studentship includes hands-on training, access to cutting-edge research equipment, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. PhD students will be supported to present their research at national and international conferences, with strong mentoring to ensure timely completion of their degree (4-5 years).
