Physics Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025: The Earth System Physics (ESP) section of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) is seeking applications for two postdoctoral positions, starting July 2025 or soon after. These positions are linked to the WELLCOME TRUST ACCLIMATISE project, aimed at integrating climate information into malaria intervention assessments in Africa.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Completed PhD in climate dynamics, epidemiology, or mathematical modeling prior to the start date.
- Priority given to candidates obtaining their PhD after 2022.
- For Position 1: Background in Atmospheric Physics and Climate Sciences.
- For Position 2: Background in Atmospheric Sciences, Dynamic Disease Modelling, Epidemiology, or Artificial Intelligence.
Job Description
- Position 1: Conduct independent research on African monsoon system variability and trends using various tools, including climate models and simulations.
- Position 2: Develop and improve the VECTRI model by exploring climate change effects on malaria risk and coupling it with agent-based mobility models.
- Collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment and engage with international partners.
- Contribute to a vibrant research environment with workshops and conferences.
