The PONTE Postdoctoral Program invites graduates in physics, mathematics, engineering, or related disciplines to conduct research in theoretical quantitative biology alongside experimentalists. Fellows will act as bridges between the exact sciences and biology at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC), contributing to the institute’s mission of interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing theoretical and quantitative biology.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Strong background or interest in biological sciences
  • Demonstrated research experience in theoretical or quantitative biology
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Job Description:

  • Conduct independent research projects in theoretical quantitative biology
  • Collaborate with members of one or multiple IGC research groups
  • Contribute to the development of theoretical and quantitative biology at IGC
  • Participate in the PONTE quantitative biology winter school
  • Join local PhD training in Integrative Biology
  • Assist in the selection process of subsequent fellows
