Applications are invited for the prestigious ECU–University of Portsmouth (UoP) Joint PhD Scholarship. Successful applicants will be appointed as a PhD Fellow / PhD Student Position under a joint PhD programme between Edith Cowan University and the University of Portsmouth.

Scholarship Description & Benefits

The ECU–UoP Joint PhD Scholarship scheme provides generous PhD funding to support high-achieving candidates throughout their doctoral journey. Under this scheme, one PhD scholarship is awarded per host university each year for five years.

Eligibility and Qualifications

To be eligible for this PhD programme scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Must be applying as a prospective domestic postgraduate research student.
• Obtain formal endorsement from an assigned Principal Supervisor to apply for an advertised joint research project.
• Submit a formal Higher Degree by Research (HDR) course admission application for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Integrated PhD at ECU prior to submitting the scholarship application.
• Meet the academic and English language entry requirements for postgraduate research degrees at the respective host institution.
• Be available and ready to commence the PhD programme and scholarship on 05 April 2027.

Prospective candidates must follow these steps to apply for this competitive research job and scholarship award:

1. Identify a Project & Supervisor: Connect with prospective supervisors at ECU or UoP and secure written endorsement from your proposed Principal Supervisor.
2. Submit HDR Course Admission: Lodge an application for admission into the Doctor of Philosophy programme at your intended home institution.
3. Submit Scholarship Application: Once your admission application is submitted, complete the joint PhD scholarship application via the university portal.

Note: Applicants enrolling with ECU as their home institution must apply via ECU, while candidates enrolling with UoP must apply directly through the University of Portsmouth. Applicants should apply to only one host institution.
