Post-doc in Genomic Taxonomy: We seek a motivated post-doc or bioinformatician with experience in microbial population genomics to join our team. The candidate will contribute to developing and benchmarking novel strain subtyping schemes for bacterial pathogens. The role is based at the Institut Pasteur, within the Biological Resources Center and the BIGSdb-Pasteur project team, and involves collaboration with the CENTAUR project, funded by the ISIDORe European infrastructure project.

Research Area: Genomic Taxonomy of Bacterial Pathogens

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in microbial genomics or equivalent
  • Masters in bioinformatics with experience in genomics
  • Good communication skills in written and oral English
  • Autonomy in project management
  • Interest in scientific dissemination and public health applications of microbial genomics
  • Experience with cgMLST and strain taxonomic approaches is a plus

Job Description: The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and benchmark new genotyping schemes for bacterial pathogens.
  • Implement genotyping schemes in international platforms like BIGSdb-Pasteur and Chewie-NS.
  • Analyze large collections of bacterial genomes and integrate various genotyping systems.
  • Use LIN codes for strain taxonomies.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of LIN codes to the international epidemiological community.
  • Curate and analyze genome and metadata in BIGSdb-Pasteur.
  • Participate in scientific documentation and publications.
  • Engage in Brisse group activities, including lab meetings and collaborations.
