Job Description:
The Post Doc will engage in research relevant to natural resource management and biodiversity conservation, reporting to Oceans Initiative’s Chief Scientist. The position requires a commitment to scientific integrity, transparency, and reproducibility while working collaboratively with a team. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing research projects from conception through publication and application in conservation settings.
- Supervising and ensuring quality in the work produced by research assistants and technicians.
- Providing statistical support and analyses for ongoing research projects.
- Writing peer-reviewed papers, technical reports, and presenting findings at stakeholder meetings.
- Engaging in outreach activities to disseminate research findings.
- Writing successful funding proposals to support conservation initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in quantitative ecology or biology.
- Proficiency in ecological modeling tools and methods for marine biodiversity assessment.
- Familiarity with programming in R or Python.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven track record of leading research projects and publishing in reputable journals.
