Postdoctoral Position in USA

POST DOC POSITION: The Ag Botany / Plant Path (ABP) department at Oregon State University is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of soil microbiology and ecology, specifically focusing on the interactions between endosymbiotic bacteria and early-divergent fungi in the phylum Mucoromycota.

Designation: Postdoctoral Scholar
Research Area: Fungal Bacterial Interactions in Mucoromycota
Location: Corvallis, OR
Eligibility/Qualification: Ph.D. in molecular biology, bioinformatics, microbial ecology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, or plant-fungal-bacterial interactions. Experience in computational biology, genomics data sets, programming (Python and R), Mycology/Bacteriology/Microbiology coursework, fieldwork, and expertise in ecological theory.

Job Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Conducting field, lab, and computational research on bacterial fungal symbioses.
  2. Culturing and sequencing microbial diversity, including fungi and bacterial symbionts.
  3. Surveying microbial communities through collecting and analyzing molecular data (DNA/RNA).
  4. Developing integrative approaches for studying fungal bacterial interactions in vitro and in greenhouse settings.
  5. Assisting in lab management, material ordering, and training.
  6. Maintaining laboratory records, protocols, and reagents.
  7. Ensuring compliance with EHS & OSHA safety rules.
  8. Generating, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific manuscripts.
  9. Providing educational and outreach activities to K-12 education in Oregon.
