POST DOC POSITION: The Ag Botany / Plant Path (ABP) department at Oregon State University is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of soil microbiology and ecology, specifically focusing on the interactions between endosymbiotic bacteria and early-divergent fungi in the phylum Mucoromycota.

Research Area: Fungal Bacterial Interactions in Mucoromycota
Location: Corvallis, OR
Eligibility/Qualification: Ph.D. in molecular biology, bioinformatics, microbial ecology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, or plant-fungal-bacterial interactions. Experience in computational biology, genomics data sets, programming (Python and R), Mycology/Bacteriology/Microbiology coursework, fieldwork, and expertise in ecological theory.
Job Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting field, lab, and computational research on bacterial fungal symbioses.
- Culturing and sequencing microbial diversity, including fungi and bacterial symbionts.
- Surveying microbial communities through collecting and analyzing molecular data (DNA/RNA).
- Developing integrative approaches for studying fungal bacterial interactions in vitro and in greenhouse settings.
- Assisting in lab management, material ordering, and training.
- Maintaining laboratory records, protocols, and reagents.
- Ensuring compliance with EHS & OSHA safety rules.
- Generating, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific manuscripts.
- Providing educational and outreach activities to K-12 education in Oregon.
