Job Description
The successful candidate will investigate arrays of coupled silicon drum resonators, each acting as a physical bit with two stable oscillation phases. The project focuses on how the collective response of these elements depends on input history and sequence, opening new pathways for memory and computation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Combining experimental work with modeling to uncover switching pathways of interacting resonators.
- Connecting physical pathways to specific computational tasks.
- Investigating the robustness and energy costs of these systems.
- Exploring reprogrammable computational behavior using tunable interactions and multiple vibrational modes.
- Utilizing AMOLF’s state-of-the-art cleanroom and optical characterization facilities.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A doctoral degree (PhD) in Physics or Engineering (or expect to receive one shortly).
- Ideally, relevant experience in micromechanics or physical computation.
- Strong analytical and experimental skills.
- Commitment to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
Working Conditions
AMOLF offers a collaborative and international working environment with the following benefits:
- Full-time appointment (40 hours/week) for 3 years under the NWO-I foundation.
- Starting salary in scale 10 (CAO-OI), beginning at 4,552 Euro gross per month.
- Comprehensive employment benefits and assistance with housing, visas, and transport for foreign postdocs.
