Post-Doc Position in Aluminum Oxide: The Integrated Optical Systems (IOS) group is seeking a motivated post-doc to help set up and develop a 200 mm pilot microfabrication line for photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in the aluminum oxide platform. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ambitious, highly motivated, self-driven, and a good team player.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the design, fabrication, and characterization of integrated photonics circuits.
  • Expertise in the deposition of optical materials, in particular sputter deposition, will be a plus.
  • Hands-on expertise in both the operation and maintenance of PVD systems (i.e., sputtering, PLD, ALD).
  • A Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in research, with publications in reputable academic journals and presentations in international scientific conferences.
  • Good communication skills and an excellent command of English.

Job Description:

  • Help set up and develop a 200 mm pilot microfabrication line for PICs in the aluminum oxide platform.
  • Contribute to the development of a process design kit (PDK) of building blocks in the platform.
  • Conduct research within a multidisciplinary and highly diverse environment.
  • Active in networks for acquiring research funding, and have ambition and experience in working closely with companies and government agencies.

  • Gross monthly salary depending on experience and qualifications from € 4.241,- to € 5.538,-.

  • A minimum of 232 leave hours in case of full-time employment based on a formal workweek of 38 hours, with an additional 96 extra leave hours annually due to a 40-hour workweek in practice.
