Post-doc Position in Image Analysis: Join our dynamic research team at l’institut du thorax – ITX in Nantes, France, as a Post-doctoral fellow in Medical Image Analysis. This one-year position, with the possibility of extension, is part of a national project focusing on exploring and characterizing the brain vascular tree using deep learning approaches.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Machine Learning
  • Strong programming skills (Python, C/C++)
  • Fluent in English and French
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in image processing, medical imaging, machine/deep learning, and computer vision

Job Description: The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Florent Autrusseau on a wide national project involving various partners, including University Hospital in Nantes, Institut du Thorax (ITX), and multiple universities and companies. The primary focus is on characterizing brain arteries, classifying cerebral bifurcations, and automatically detecting intracranial aneurysms using deep learning approaches.

Main Activities:

  • Propose methods for vascular tree segmentation, bifurcations recognition, and aneurysm detection
  • Conduct a thorough study of bifurcation recognition and aneurysm detection tasks using collected MRA-TOF acquisitions
  • Exploit a synthetic model of the vasculature for neural network training
  • Bring improvements to the synthetic model (vasculature shape, aneurysm, background noise modeling)
  • Perform numerical simulations on a GPU HPC cluster
  • Programming in Python, C/C++
  • Contribute to the supervision of PhD students

  • Various trips in France and/or abroad

Specific Requirements or Constraints:

  • Must hold an engineering degree and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Machine Learning
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary project
  • Autonomy and team collaboration skills
  • Good writing skills for progress reports and scientific articles
  • Scientific rigor
