Eligibility & Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Research Experience:
    • Demonstrated track record in the wet-chemistry synthesis of organic and inorganic functional materials.
    • Strong expertise with layered materials, hybrid semiconductors, or related low-dimensional systems.
    • Practical, hands-on experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting single-crystal and/or powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data.
    • Proven experience with structural, optical, and optoelectronic characterization techniques.
  • Publications & Language:
    • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Desirable / Additional Skills:

  • Experience working with layered halide perovskites or other hybrid low-dimensional structures.
  • Familiarity with automation, high-throughput experimentation, or data-driven/digital materials science workflows.
  • Experience in thin-film formation and surface functionalization techniques.
  • Knowledge of solid-state magnetic resonance imaging (SS-NMR/MRI) is an advantage.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior researchers and Ph.D. students.

Job Description & Responsibilities

As a member of the ANiME research team working on the ERC-funded project EVA, you will:

  • Synthesize & Optimize: Design and prepare organic-inorganic layered materials and develop novel synthetic protocols via solution-based wet chemistry.
  • Characterization: Conduct thorough structural (crystallographic), optical, and optoelectronic characterization of target materials.
  • Project Execution: Lead independent research sub-projects while actively contributing to multi-disciplinary group milestones.
  • Workflow Automation: Assist in creating and integrating automated experimental platforms and data-driven methods for high-throughput materials discovery.
  • Supervision & Dissemination: Mentor Ph.D. students and research fellows, prepare scientific papers for top-tier peer-reviewed journals, and present outcomes at international conferences.
