Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Requirement: Ph.D. in Biology with a focus on Molecular Ecology or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience analyzing DNA sequence datasets for ecological community studies and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Skills:
    • Solid bioinformatics expertise (e.g., metagenomics, comparative genomics, phylogenetic analysis).
    • Proficiency in R statistical software and multivariate analysis tools like FunGuild and FungalTraits.
    • Fluency in Swedish and English, with excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Other Requirements:
    • A valid driver’s license for fieldwork.
    • Postdoctoral candidates should have earned their doctoral degree within the last three years.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct fieldwork and plant disease diagnostics.
  • Analyze high-throughput sequencing (DNA barcoding and metabarcoding) datasets to explore the diversity, relatedness, abundances, and interactions of fungal and oomycete communities.
  • Lead all aspects of the analysis and independently coordinate practical work.
  • Write scientific publications in collaboration with the project team.
  • Teach courses and provide field training to practitioners (in Swedish).
