Post-doc (Senior Assistant): The University of Warsaw, Centre of New Technologies, is inviting applications for the position of Post-doc (Senior Assistant) in the Laboratory of Paleogenetics and Conservation Genetics. The project, titled “Reconstruction and calibration of genome-based phylogeny of the Microtus genus using the Middle Pleistocene genomes,” is led by Project Leader Mareusz Baca, PhD, DSc. The successful candidate will conduct bioinformatic analysis of high throughput sequencing data of modern and ancient mammals, particularly voles, to elucidate the evolutionary history and phylogenetic relationships among Arvicolinae, with a focus on the Microtus genus.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in biological sciences (biology, biotechnology, or molecular biology)
- PhD degree obtained in a country of the EU, EFTA, OECD, or nostrified on the date of employment
- Good knowledge of molecular genetics with basic experience in laboratory work
- Experience in ancient DNA-oriented laboratory procedures (preferred)
- Proficiency in working with OS based on Unix core and command line
- Experience in bioinformatic processing of sequencing data and phylogenomic analyses
- Motivation to work and contribute to scientific publications
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
Job Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data, including quality control, mapping, variant calling, phylogenomic analyses, gene and species tree reconstruction, detection and estimation of gene flow, and more. The role involves active participation in the preparation of scientific articles and deposition of raw data in appropriate repositories. The candidate may also assist students with their data analysis.
