Post-Doctoral Assistant: Health Sciences: Ghent University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral position in the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. This temporary appointment focuses on coordinating the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health’ consortium, contributing to policy development, and leading scientific research in AI in Health. The successful candidate will actively participate in steering committee activities, supervise students, ensure consortium visibility, and facilitate fundraising.

Location: Ghent University, Belgium

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in medical sciences, biomedical sciences, health sciences, engineering sciences, bioengineering sciences, or related disciplines
  • Relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals
  • Experience in AI, with a focus on AI in healthcare
  • Interest in policy development and implementation
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Analytical skills
  • Distinguished researcher during doctoral work
  • Interest in student supervision

Job Description: The Post-Doctoral Fellow will:

  • Lead the AI in Health steering committee, contributing to policy plans and strategies.
  • Conduct scientific research (minimum 70% assignment) in AI in Health, developing a research line based on expertise and faculty needs.
  • Participate in teaching at the bachelor’s or master’s level.
  • Supervise students at master level in exercises, internships, and master’s theses.
  • Facilitate fundraising for the consortium and ensure its visibility in various forums.
  • Act as a liaison between the consortium and other faculties/partners, identifying collaboration opportunities.
  • Plan and coordinate symposia to increase knowledge within the consortium and stimulate external involvement.
