Post Doctoral Associate (22006940): The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for a Post Doctoral Associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Velvet Journigan. The position involves contributing to drug discovery efforts aimed at correcting defects in sensory perception of cold in neuropathic pain states. The lab employs structure-based drug design, synthetic medicinal chemistry, and biochemical approaches to discover novel ligands. The successful candidate will be part of the Computational Chemical Genomics Screening Center.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in medicinal or organic chemistry.
  • Expertise in designing synthetic routes and varied multi-step organic synthesis.
  • Experience in structural characterization, including NMR, mass spec, LC-MS, HPLC, and CHN.
  • Familiarity with structure-based drug design using cryo-EM or x-ray structures of biological targets; computational experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated independent ability to design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret results, and present them professionally.
  • Proficiency in performing literature searches and assisting with scientific writing.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to assist and guide graduate students and other post-docs in the lab.
