Eligibility/Qualification:
- Education: Doctorate of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Knowledge: Mechanical behaviors of materials and some form of materials modeling (e.g., density functional theory, molecular dynamics, mesoscale methods).
- Skills:
- Programming in an interpreted language (e.g., Python or MATLAB).
- Preferred: Programming in low-level language (e.g., C++).
- Experience with high-performance computing, dislocation theory, and the theory of crystalline interfaces.
Job Description:
- Research Tasks (80%):
- Algorithm and code development.
- Theoretical analysis.
- Simulations using high-performance computing.
- Analysis of simulation results.
- Manuscript preparation.
- Presentation of results at conferences and workshops.
- Leadership and Mentorship (10%):
- Support and guide undergraduate and graduate students.
- Assist with simulations and analysis troubleshooting.
- Brainstorm research ideas with group members.
- Research Ideation (10%):
- Survey and analyze scientific literature.
- Perform preliminary studies and evaluations of research ideas.
- Support in white paper and proposal preparation.
