  • Education: Doctorate of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge: Mechanical behaviors of materials and some form of materials modeling (e.g., density functional theory, molecular dynamics, mesoscale methods).
  • Skills:
  • Programming in an interpreted language (e.g., Python or MATLAB).
  • Preferred: Programming in low-level language (e.g., C++).
  • Experience with high-performance computing, dislocation theory, and the theory of crystalline interfaces.

Job Description:

  1. Research Tasks (80%):
  • Algorithm and code development.
  • Theoretical analysis.
  • Simulations using high-performance computing.
  • Analysis of simulation results.
  • Manuscript preparation.
  • Presentation of results at conferences and workshops.
  1. Leadership and Mentorship (10%):
  • Support and guide undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Assist with simulations and analysis troubleshooting.
  • Brainstorm research ideas with group members.
  1. Research Ideation (10%):
  • Survey and analyze scientific literature.
  • Perform preliminary studies and evaluations of research ideas.
  • Support in white paper and proposal preparation.
