The successful candidate will work on understanding the mechanisms and consequences of asexual reproduction, with a focus on insect-microbe interactions, particularly Wolbachia and other intracellular infections. Job Description:
- Research Activities (80%):
- Independently design, execute, and analyze experiments and research projects related to insect-microbe interactions and asexual reproduction.
- Maintain organized records of experiments, results, samples, protocols, code, and data.
- Present research findings through scientific presentations and co-author publications.
- Regularly communicate with the principal investigator and contribute to lab meetings.
- Supervisory (10%):
- Train new personnel in established biological, chemical, and physical safety procedures.
- Oversee the work of undergraduate student interns and new or rotating graduate students.
- Assist lab members and collaborators with experimental design and technical procedures.
- Professional Development (10%):
- Contribute to grant proposals in collaboration with the principal investigator.
- Prepare independent research and fellowship proposals with mentorship from the principal investigator.
- Stay current in the literature and explore future research avenues.
- Receive training in teaching, mentorship, management, or other professional skills as per professional goals.
