Post-doctoral candidates at IMDEA: IMDEA Materials Institute seeks a motivated candidate to join our multidisciplinary team for the BIOMET4D project. This cutting-edge research aims to develop shape-morphing implants for dynamic tissue restoration, revolutionizing reconstructive surgery and biomedical actuators.   • Minimum B.S. in Materials Science/Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field. Post-doctoral candidates are also encouraged to apply.
  • High level of English (both oral and written) is mandatory. No Spanish required; free English and Spanish lessons provided.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: 4D printing or additive manufacturing of shape-shifting materials, materials characterization, cell culture, or bioreactor design and 3D cell culture.

Job Description:

  • Conduct in vitro characterization of developed materials and devices, adhering to standards like ISO 10993 and using tissue-specific cells.
  • Advance areas such as material degradation characterization, in situ device characterization, or bioreactor development for ex vivo skin expansion.
  • Collaborate with project partners on in vivo studies and engage in communication and dissemination activities, including Open Science.
  • Prepare reports for the funding agency and work under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Patterson, in collaboration with Dr. Jon Molina and Dr. Javier LLorca.
