Post-Doctoral: Experimental Physics: The INFN Research Grant Program for 2025/2026 offers 20 positions for post-doctoral researchers in experimental physics. This competitive program aims to support outstanding non-Italian researchers interested in working on research topics in particle physics, astroparticle physics, nuclear physics, and technology research at INFN sections and laboratories across Italy.

Post-Doctoral Senior Level 3 Research Grant in Experimental Physics (2025/2026)

Designation:
Post-Doctoral Researcher (Senior Level 3)

Research Area:
Experimental Physics, including Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Technology Research.

Location:
INFN Laboratories and Sections across Italy, including Frascati, Gran Sasso, Legnaro, Bari, Bologna, Milano, Napoli, Roma, and many more. Applicants can select up to two preferred INFN sites.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Non-Italian citizens are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent qualification) obtained no earlier than November 15, 2016, with certain extensions available for maternity, paternity, national service, and long-term illness.
  • Applicants who are in the process of completing their doctoral thesis may apply, but they must have their Ph.D. by November 1, 2025.
  • The grant is not open to candidates who have previously benefited from an INFN Research Grant or Research Fellowship for a total of six years.

Job Description:
The grant supports research activities in experimental physics. Researchers will work in close collaboration with INFN laboratories and sections, contributing to innovative research in selected fields. The research topics must align with the specific programs of the selected INFN sections or laboratories.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research in areas such as particle physics, astroparticle physics, nuclear physics, or technology research.
  • Publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborating with other researchers and contributing to ongoing INFN projects.

The gross annual salary is €31,308.00, with a net annual salary of approximately €27,600.00. In addition, an economic incentive of €5,000.00 gross per year is available for researchers who meet mobility requirements.
