Applications are being sought for a postdoctoral researcher in the field of Fire Research focusing on Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) fires. The successful candidate will work under the leadership of Prof. James L Urban in the Department of Fire Protection Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) as part of the Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center.

Job Description
The position includes conducting experimental campaigns related to WUI fire exposure, compartment fires, and assisting in both small- and large-scale experiments. The applicant will investigate and develop methodologies to study the interactions of fire with structures in mixed urban and wildland settings.
Eligibility/Qualification
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or another related STEM field.
- Strong foundation in thermal fluids (fire, fluid mechanics, combustion, or heat transfer).
Desired/Optional Qualifications:
- Experience using fire testing equipment (thermocouples, heat flux gauges, thin-skin calorimeters, pitot-tubes, etc.).
- Experience with gas sampling and measurements from fire tests.
- Experience with intermediate to large-scale fire testing.
- Prior research experience with physical modeling.
- Familiarity with imaging analysis and/or computer vision.
