Post-doctoral fellow in Biogeochemical Modelling: Lund University, founded in 1666 and consistently ranked among the world’s top universities, is seeking a Post-doctoral Fellow for a project on the synthesis, characterization, and application of graphene-based materials. The research will involve integrating ecological insights into modelling, particularly focusing on the impact of climate on soil organic carbon dynamics. The candidate will collaborate closely with an empirical team, bridging the gap between modelling and empirical work.
Designation: Post-doctoral Fellow
Research Area: Biogeochemical Modelling, Soil Microbial Ecology
Location: Lund, Skåne län, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD or an international degree equivalent to a PhD in Soil or Environmental Science, Engineering, Ecology, Biogeochemistry, or similar.
- Degree completed no more than three years before the date of application.
- Excellent programming skills in Matlab, Fortran, or C/C++.
- Strong mathematical skills, including a solid understanding of ODEs and numerical methods.
- Extensive experience in biogeochemical and mechanistic modelling.
- In-depth knowledge of microbial ecology, terrestrial ecosystems dynamics, and soil science.
- Experience in bridging the gap between models and empirical work.
- Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
Job Description:
Post-doctoral fellow in Biogeochemical Modelling with a Focus on Soil Microbial Ecology
The Post-doctoral Fellow will lead research on the synthesis, characterization, and application of graphene-based materials, integrating ecological insights into modelling. The focus is on climate impact on soil organic carbon dynamics, involving the integration of soil microbial features into a hydro-biogeochemical framework. The candidate will act as a link between the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science and the Department of Biology. Duties include conducting research, potential teaching (up to 20% of working hours), and actively seeking external research funding.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit a single PDF file containing:
- Cover letter (max 2 pages) with a general description of past and future research interests.
- Résumé/CV, including a list of publications (max 5 pages).
- Copy of the doctoral degree certificate and other relevant certificates/grades (max 3).
- Contact information of two references.
