Post-Doctoral Fellow in Biophysical Chemistry: Lund University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Biophysical Chemistry to join the research group of Sara Linse at the Center for Molecular Protein Science (CMPS), Department of Chemistry. This position focuses on studying the aggregation and fibril formation of peptides and proteins, emphasizing structural investigations and the development of a migraine diagnostic biosensor.

Designation

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Research Area

Biophysical Chemistry, Molecular Biophysics, Structural Biology, Protein Science

Location

Lund University, Lund, Skåne län, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent within the relevant subject, completed no more than three years prior to the employment decision.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Additional Requirements:

  • Documented experience in structural analysis of protein aggregates via cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
  • Practical expertise in protein solubility investigations, protein purification, and spectroscopic techniques related to protein fibrillation.
  • Understanding of molecular chaperones and their roles in fibril formation.
  • Experience with isotopic labeling of proteins and measuring protein size distributions.

Job Description

The post-doctoral position primarily involves conducting research on:

  • Chaperones that enhance the solubility of proteins, preventing their aggregation and fibril formation.
  • The molecular basis of migraine, including the development of diagnostic tools.
  • Methodology development for studying protein self-assembly and co-assembly, focusing on amyloid proteins and relevant chaperones.

Responsibilities may include teaching duties, not exceeding one-fifth of the total working time, and participation in a training program in higher education teaching and learning.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should submit the following documents in English:

  • Résumé/CV, including a list of publications.
  • A general description of past research and future research interests (maximum three pages).
  • Contact information for at least two references.
