Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A PhD or an international degree equivalent to a PhD in a relevant subject completed no more than three years before the date of employment decision
  • Documented ability to develop and conduct high-quality research
  • Experience in working under sterile conditions with microbiological samples
  • Proficiency in English (written and oral)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in culturing laboratory strains of fungi, working with mycorrhizal fungi, and advanced microscopy and image analysis using ImageJ
  • Basic experience or familiarity with coding languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R is preferred. Any foundational coding knowledge will be considered beneficial

Job Description:
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be primarily engaged in designing, setting up, and running laboratory experiments to study micro-scale processes in mycorrhizal interactions. Responsibilities will include maintaining fungal cultures, developing ecological theory around fungal behavior, executing experiments using microfluidic chip setups, microscopy and image analysis of fungal growth, scientific writing, and attending and presenting at relevant conferences. Additionally, there is an opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.
