Research Area
The study will focus on the sensory biology of nocturnal migratory insects, specifically investigating how the Australian Bogong moth (Agrotis infusa) uses stellar and geomagnetic cues for navigation.
Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD Requirement: A completed PhD in migration biology, sensory biology, or a related subject area (must be completed no more than three years before the employment decision).
- Language Proficiency: Very good oral and written English.
- Research Experience: Solid track record in insect navigation/migration and documented skills in behavioral and/or electrophysiological investigations.
Job Description
The primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting research on how stellar and geomagnetic information is sensed and processed by the Australian Bogong moth.
- Employing behavioral and electrophysiological methods in specialized laboratory facilities in both Australia and Sweden.
- Actively seeking external research funding to support ongoing research initiatives.
- Engaging in teaching activities (up to 20% of working hours) and participating in training in higher education teaching and learning.
