About Us:
The Gomez-Deza Lab focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind human neuron degeneration in both health and disease. Our research utilizes chemotherapeutic agents known to cause pain to induce neuronal degeneration, with applications extending to conditions such as glaucoma, traumatic brain injury, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). We employ advanced molecular and biochemical techniques, including:
- iPSC differentiation into human neurons
- Whole genome CRISPR interference screens
- RNA sequencing (RNAseq)
- CRISPR knock-ins/knock-outs
- Advanced microscopy
Eligibility/Qualification:
We seek candidates with:
- A Ph.D. in a life science-related field
- A strong background in cellular and molecular biology
- Experience in neuroscience, single-cell RNAseq, and iPSCs (desired but not required)
- A demonstrated record of scientific publications
Job Description:
The selected Post-Doctoral Fellow will:
- Conduct cutting-edge research on neurodegeneration using human neurons and chemotherapeutic models
- Utilize advanced molecular biology techniques to investigate neuronal survival mechanisms
- Collaborate with researchers at Temple University and the Fox Chase Cancer Center
- Participate in lab meetings, scientific conferences, and manuscript preparation
- Contribute to the development of innovative approaches for treating neuropathic pain and neurodegenerative diseases
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Contact details of three professional references
Applications should be sent via email to Dr. Jorge Gomez-Deza at jorge.gomez-deza@temple.edu.
Last Date to Apply:
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
