Post-Doctoral in Molecular and Cellular Biology: We are seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher to join our team at the Institut de Biologie Intégrative de la Cellule in France. The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms of selective phage DNA packaging and bacterial DNA transduction, with a focus on understanding the impact of horizontal gene transfer within bacterial communities. The research will involve working with bacteriophage SPP1 that infects the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis.

Research Area:

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or genetics of bacteriophages/bacteria.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology, bacteriology, omics, or biochemistry.
  • Ability to formulate and test hypotheses experimentally.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of scientific and methodological literature in the field of research.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English (level C2).

Job Description:
The Post-Doctoral Researcher will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research using molecular biology techniques such as cloning, construction of recombinant viruses, ChIP-Seq, NGS data analysis, and transcriptomics.
  • Utilizing biochemistry skills for the purification and characterization of proteins and protein-DNA complexes, as well as bacterial cell imaging approaches.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date register of research work and experimental data following the regulations of the Institute and ANR, and carrying out data analysis.
  • Writing and presenting research results in English.
  • Staying updated on scientific and methodological literature in the research field.
