Post-Doctoral in Supramolecular Chemistry: Maynooth University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Supramolecular Chemical Systems Group in the Department of Chemistry. This temporary position, under the guidance of Dr. Rob Elmes, is part of a multidisciplinary project between the Departments of Chemistry and Biology at Maynooth University and SSPC (SFI’s Centre for Pharmaceutical Research). The focus of the project is the design and synthesis of supramolecular receptors for applications in medicinal chemistry and chemical biology, with a particular emphasis on combating anti-microbial resistant bacteria.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or Chemical Biology, with a focus on organic chemistry/supramolecular chemistry/chemical biology/biotechnology.
- Extensive experience in organic synthesis or chemical biology.
- Proficiency in spectroscopic evaluation of small/medium organic molecules.
- Desirable experience includes synthesis/characterisation of supramolecular receptor compounds and expertise in cell biology, cell-based assays, and therapeutic development.
Job Description:
- Synthesis of small/medium organic compounds and supramolecular receptors.
- Characterisation of compounds using techniques such as NMR, IR, UV, and HPLC.
- Application of chemical biology methods for spectroscopic evaluation of synthesised compounds.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop new therapeutic agents against antimicrobial resistance.
- Supervision of PhD students and undergraduate final year projects.
