Post Doctoral Position (f/m/d): Join a dynamic research team at the University of Duisburg-Essen’s Faculty for Chemistry, Department of Technical Chemistry III, in a cutting-edge project focused on “Natural Water to Hydrogen.” Collaborate with 14 research groups and 22 partners from academia and industry to advance sustainable hydrogen production through anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis. Investigate water quality, electrodes, and membrane interactions, while contributing to the development of eco-friendly hydrogen technologies. Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in electrocatalysis, electrochemistry, engineering, technical chemistry, or a related field with specialization in water electrolysis.
- Proven research commitment demonstrated through publications in international refereed academic journals and academic publishers.
- Proficiency in electrolysis, electrochemistry, and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.
- Experience in experimental data collection, analysis, interpretation, and data management with application of FAIR principles.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
Job Description: As a Post Doctoral Researcher in the “Natural Water to Hydrogen” project, you will:
- Plan and execute lab-scale AEM electrolysis experiments using model electrodes and membranes, analyzing electrochemical and electrocatalytic activities.
- Conduct operando ATR-FTIR experiments for model catalysts, developing a protocol to extract vibrational responses under steady-state operando conditions.
- Coordinate experiments within assigned work packages, manage resources, schedules, and interfaces with other project teams.
- Collaborate with the “Natural Water to Hydrogen” team and partners from academia and industry.
- Document and analyze research results, communicate findings, prepare reports, publish research papers, and present at conferences.
- Participate in research funding acquisition and engage in outreach activities.
- Contribute to an international, interdisciplinary summer school, workshops, and conferences.
