Post-doctoral Position in Carbon Partitioning: A post-doctoral position is available in the Niittylä group at Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC), Sweden, to study carbon partitioning to wood using hybrid aspen as a model system. The research is funded by the NovoNordisk Synergy Project CarbonTree, a collaboration between UPSC, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Helsinki. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge sequencing and isotope techniques in an interdisciplinary environment.

Location: Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Umeå, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in plant molecular biology, plant biochemistry, or plant physiology (PhD must be awarded within the last 3 years).
  • Strong molecular biology lab skills.
  • Experience in metabolomics and/or metabolic flux analysis is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Published PhD research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

Job Description:

  • Conduct research on metabolic fluxes leading to wood formation using advanced sequencing and isotope techniques.
  • Collaborate with research groups at UPSC, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Helsinki.
  • Integrate personal research interests within the CarbonTree project.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art analytical platforms, unique tree germplasm resources, and plant growth facilities.
  • Participate in a collaborative and supportive research environment.

  • Form of employment: Temporary (24 months), with the possibility of extension.
