Dark Matter Detection, Atomic Quantum Optics, and Fundamental Physics

Location:
ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Castelldefels (Barcelona), Spain

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D. or equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the near future) in Physics or closely related fields.
  • Proven track record in experimental atomic, molecular, and optical physics.
  • Experience with ultracold gases and/or tabletop searches for new physics is strongly desirable.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Work within a small team of PhD and post-doctoral researchers to develop SBECs as detectors of hypothesized new forces.
  • Investigate the detection of axions and axion-like particles (ALPs) through short-range monopole-dipole forces using SBEC magnetometer technologies.
  • Leverage SBECs’ extraordinary coherence, compactness, and systematic clarity for advancing the frontier of fundamental physics experiments.

How to Apply:
Suitable candidates should submit the following:

  1. Presentation letter with a declaration of interest.
  2. Curriculum Vitae, including contact details.
