Post-doctoral Position in Electron Quantum Simulator, ICFO, Spain

Postdoctoral Position in ICFO
Post-doctoral Position in Electron Quantum Simulator: ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences is offering postdoctoral positions to highly qualified, motivated, and dynamic scientists wishing to enhance their careers in a stimulating research environment. This position involves working in the international QTWIST program with leading researchers from MIT, Harvard, and ICFO on a groundbreaking project related to the development of a novel analogue electron quantum simulator.

Post-doctoral Position in Analogue Electron Quantum Simulator

Designation:

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Research Area:

Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Simulators, Graphene Superlattices, Correlated Electron States.

Location:

Barcelona, Spain (ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. (or nearing completion) in Condensed Matter Physics or a closely related field.
  • Experience in electron transport of correlated systems.
  • Expertise in the fabrication of van der Waals heterostructures.

Job Description:

The selected candidate will work on the development of a novel analogue electron quantum simulator. The project aims to construct an experimental tool based on a graphene superlattice to explore macroscopic observables (e.g., electrical resistivity, magnetization) and probe the many-body quantum wavefunction of correlated electronic states. The research will address phenomena such as high-Tc superconductivity, heavy fermions in a Kondo lattice, and integer/fractional Chern insulators.

Responsibilities include conducting advanced experiments in condensed matter physics, collaborating with international research groups, and contributing to cutting-edge research in the field.

How to Apply:

Applicants are requested to submit the following documents:

  • A presentation letter with a declaration of interest.
  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae, including contact details.
  • Contact information for two referees.

Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until a suitable candidate is identified.

Last Date to Apply:

Until positions are filled.
