Post-doctoral position in hybrid materials for novel green computing technologies in ICFO, Spain

Postdoctoral Position in ICFO

ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to work in the exciting field of opto-electro-chemical devices emerging green computing applications, such as neuromorphic sensors and circuits.

The CO2 Mitigation Accelerated by Photons group led by Prof. Dr. Pelayo García de Arquer is looking for outstanding researchers seeking to the study and develop hybrid materials for energy efficient computing applications. Among others, the candidate will explore the use of perovskite-based materials, interfaces, and junctions, to develop opto-electrochemical devices for neuromorphic applications.

The postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to work in a vibrant project at the intersection of physics, materials sciences, and computing, in a highly multidisciplinary work, as well as utilize state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization facilities.

For more details, please visit the group website at: https://arquerlab.com.

Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in areas related to electrical engineering, physics -with a focus in solid state-, physical chemistry, photo/electrochemistry, computer sciences, nanostructured materials or (opto)electronic devices.

With a research focused on optoelectronic devices.

The candidate should combine proven expertise in several of the next domains:

·         Electrical engineering and optoelectronic devices

·         Logic devices (junction and field effect transistors, MOS technologies, etc)

·         Design, modeling, and fabrication, of (opto)electrochemical devices

·         Characterization of (opto)electrochemical devices

·         Hands-on experience in the development of optoelectronic setups

·         General electrochemistry

·         Experience with perovskite and other ion-conductive materials

·         Neuromorphic computing

·         Artificial intelligence and multiscale modeling

ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions related to disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions. ICFO abides by the principles of openness, efficiency, transparency, supportiveness, and international comparability as stated in the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

Salaries for ICFO Postdoctoral positions are assigned by the Selection Committee, based on experience and seniority of the applicant, as well as the assigned tasks and responsibilities within the group. Standard salaries range from a lower level aligned with national Ramon-y-Cajal fellowships to higher levels aligned with Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowships.

The contract is offered for a period of 1 year, renewable.

Additionally, a family allowance is also available on request and after corresponding approval for people with family charges in the terms described in the corresponding policy.

Suitable candidates are requested to submit:

·         Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,

·         Curriculum Vitae, including contact details,

·         The contact e-mail of two potential referees.

Candidates will be assessed as they apply and the call will remain open until the suitable candidate is identified.

Candidates may contact jobs@icfo.eu for formal enquiries regarding the application, as well as address scientific enquiries to pelayo.garciadearquer@icfo.eu.
