Post-Doctoral Position in Mitochondria: The AMBER project (Advanced Multiscale Biological Imaging using European Research Infrastructures) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a 36-month fellowship. This EU co-funded project addresses scientific and sectoral gaps in biological imaging and is coordinated by LINXS Institute of Advanced Neutron and X-ray Science. The selected candidate will be involved in research focused on mitochondrial protein import mechanisms and their implications for cellular quality control and pathology.
Post-Doctoral Position in Functional Alterations of Protein Import into Mitochondria
Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow
Research Area: Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Mass Spectrometry, Cell Biology
Location: IMol Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or chemistry with an interest in mass spectrometry, structural biology, and cell biology
- Maximum of 8 years post-PhD research experience (as per the EU MSCA COFUND grant agreement)
- At least one original publication in a peer-reviewed journal
- Compliance with the MSCA mobility rule: The researcher must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Poland for more than 12 months in the three years immediately before the application deadline
- Strong English proficiency (minimum CEFR B2, assessed during the interview)
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team
- Strong motivation, creativity, and analytical thinking
Job Description:
The selected candidate will investigate the functional alterations of protein import into mitochondria. The project aims to analyze two variants of the TIM23 inner membrane protein translocase complex, focusing on their differential regulation and role in mitochondrial quality control. This research will employ molecular and cell biology techniques along with advanced proteomics approaches to assess protein transport and its implications for cellular physiology and pathology. The work may also involve biomedical and clinical applications.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates must submit a complete application through the AMBER portal, including:
- Curriculum Vitae (Europass format)
- Detailed research plan (3-5 pages, max. 10 pages)
- Letter of Commitment from secondment partners (if applicable)
- Evidence of English proficiency (minimum CEFR B2)
- Draft Individual Career Development Plan (ICDP)
- Two reference letters
- Additional supporting documents (if applicable)
- Ethical questionnaire (HE ethics checklist + research ethics commitment)
Candidates can apply for up to three positions and must submit a separate full application for each. A list of preferred positions should be sent to amber@linxs.se.
