Post-Doctoral Position in Organic Chemistry: An 18-month post-doctoral research position is available at the MoNALISA team, LSPCMIB (Laboratoire de Chimie et Physico-Chimie de Molécules d’Intérêt Biologique) in Toulouse, France. The position is funded by the ANR PRC “Protopolym” project (2024-28) and will start in April 2025. The research focuses on the synthesis of organocatalytic molecules introduced onto oligonucleotides to develop DNA-based proteases, contributing to the study of the chemical origins of life.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry (preferably defended within the last two years)
  • Hands-on experience in oligonucleotide or peptide-supported synthesis
  • Proficiency in biomolecule characterization and purification techniques
  • Experience in scientific communication (article writing, conference presentations) is desirable
  • Working language: English or French

Job Description:
The successful candidate will work on the synthesis of organocatalytic molecules, which will be introduced onto oligonucleotides to develop DNA-based proteases. The research aims to explore prebiotic chemistry models based on nucleic scaffolds for depolymerization steps. Key responsibilities include:

  • Synthesizing functionalized oligonucleotides
  • Evaluating catalytic properties in coacervates within a systems chemistry framework
  • Utilizing advanced chemistry lab facilities, including DNA synthesizers and chromatography platforms
  • Collaborating with academic partners from LCPO and CRPP in Bordeaux
  • Contributing to scientific publications and presentations
