  • Research Area: Development of robotic system for training 3D skeletal muscle tissues engineered in vitro

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, BioHybrid Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field
  • Experience in designing, fabricating, and controlling robots for pacing small skeletal muscles
  • Ability to work in a cell culture lab for engineering muscle tissues via cell culturing
  • Proficiency in English, both written and oral
  • Interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and high motivation

Job Description:

  • Develop a robotic system to mechanically and electrically pace engineered skeletal muscle tissues in vitro
  • Select biocompatible materials for the robot structure
  • Develop low-level controllers of tissue strain and electrical activation
  • Collaborate on muscle-on-a-chip and statistical modeling projects
  • Contribute to impactful research within the field
