Research Area: Microfluidic and Lab Automation Technologies for Cancer Treatment
Location: Edinburgh
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Engineering or related cognate discipline
- Experience in developing custom lab automation
- Excellent 2D and 3D CAD modeling skills
- Experience in programming microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
- Experience in prototyping techniques such as laser cutting and 3D printing
- Clear communicator with strong reading and writing skills; adept at understanding and explaining concepts
- Research and analytical skills with the ability to conduct independent research
- Capability to conceptualize problems and develop well-reasoned and logical viewpoints
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with molecular biology is advantageous
- Experience of biological fluid handling is desirable
- Previous publication record in journals/conferences is advantageous
- Successful completion of funded research and/or knowledge exchange is desirable

Job Description:
As a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, you will:
- Conduct and manage research and related administrative activities to ensure project aims and objectives are met
- Collaborate with the supervisory team to develop and plan research objectives
- Present research progress and outcomes to project lead, funding body, university research committee, and research team
- Publish research reports, conference and indexed journal papers in line with project requirements
- Build networks within and outside the team
- Contribute to technical workshops, seminars, and conferences
- Travel to partner universities and research collaborators as necessary
- Ensure ethical data collection and compliance with privacy and data protection policies
- Work closely with Prof Maiwenn Kersaudy-Kerhoas (Microfluidics engineering) and Prof Nick Leslie (Cancer Biology) at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering
