Post-Doctoral Research Position in Biofilm : The InnoRenew CoE invites applications for a post-doctoral position within the ERC project “Bioinspired living skin for architecture” (ARCHI-SKIN), GA #101044468, funded by the European Research Council. The selected researcher will play a pivotal role in the development of a living coating system to protect various building materials, focusing on microbial communities and biofilm functionality. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative, interdisciplinary research.

Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in biology, microbiology, biotechnology, bioproducts, materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental engineering, or related fields. Strong communication skills in English, problem-solving abilities, scientific article preparation, industry collaboration, supervision of students, and formulating new research ideas are required. An interdisciplinary approach and an innovative mindset are highly valued.

Job Description:

Post-Doctoral Research Position in Biofilm Engineering

As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, your tasks will include:

  • Development of a living coating system for building materials’ protection.
  • Control and direction of complex microbial communities.
  • Customization and enhancement of biofilm maturation.
  • Assessment and monitoring of biofilm functionality.
  • Proficiency in microbiology, mycology, DNA/RNA isolation, genomic analyses, antagonism assessment, and biofilm quantification and characterization.
  • Collaborating on a prestigious ERC project.
