Post-Doctoral Researcher – AICRI project: Technological University Dublin invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Researcher position as part of the All Island Cancer Research Institute (AICRI) project. The position is based in the School of Physics, Clinical & Optometric Sciences, initially at TU Dublin, Camden Row, with possible reassignment. The project focuses on developing methodologies for cancer diagnosis and prognosis using vibrational spectroscopy and machine learning for liquid biopsy samples.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD or equivalent in Physical or Life Sciences
  • Research profile and publication record within the subject area
  • Knowledge and experience of Raman and Infrared spectroscopic techniques, including SERS and SEIRA
  • Knowledge and experience of multivariate statistical analysis techniques
  • Experience in handling and working with patient samples is desirable

Job Description:

  • Conduct research as part of the AICRI project, focusing on liquid biopsies for cancer diagnosis and prognosis
  • Develop methodologies based on vibrational spectroscopy and machine learning for analyzing liquid biopsy samples
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of physical and life scientists
  • Liaise with collaborators at Trinity College Dublin, Queen’s University Belfast, and University of Galway
  • Present research findings effectively to various audiences
  • Work collaboratively within a team and independently as required
  • Commit to high-quality research and effective communication

Additional Information:

  • The position is a fixed-term specified purpose for up to 5 years, with initial funding available for 2 years.
  • The salary is €45,322 gross per annum, with incremental credit and adjustments in line with Government pay policy.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to high-quality research and effective communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will work quasi-autonomously within a research program, under the guidance of a mentoring Principal Investigator.
  • The role offers learning opportunities provided by TU Dublin and/or external agencies related to the research program.
  • Upon completion of the fellowship period, the appointee is expected to continue academic development in a different research environment.
