Post-doctoral Researcher – Biodiversity: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), in collaboration with the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig, is offering a full-time position as a Post-doctoral Researcher in Biodiversity Conservation. The position will be based in Leipzig, with an initial contract until 30 September 2024 and the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will work in the Biodiversity Conservation research group led by Prof. Henrique Pereira and will engage in research on biodiversity monitoring design and modeling, contributing to the EuropaBON Horizon project and other conservation-related initiatives.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in a relevant field (Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, Environmental Sciences, etc.)
  • Strong background in ecological modeling and experience with collaborative research
  • Ability to undertake project management tasks effectively
  • Familiarity with biodiversity monitoring design and modeling of Essential Biodiversity Variables
  • Interest in contributing to environmental policy and ecosystem management
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)

Job Description:

  • Collaborate with the Biodiversity Conservation research group on conservation-relevant issues
  • Develop research on biodiversity monitoring design, including models of Essential Biodiversity Variables for trend detection and attribution of biodiversity change to drivers
  • Contribute to the EuropaBON Horizon project and the European Environmental Agency Topic Centre for Biodiversity and Ecosystems
  • Participate in other relevant activities, such as the Nature Futures modeling in a community of practice associated with the IPBES Taskforce on Scenarios and Models, the NaturaConnect project, and wildE project.
