Post-Doctoral Researcher -‘FreeHydroCells’ Project: The School of Chemistry at University College Cork invites applications for the position of Post-Doctoral Researcher on the Horizon Europe ‘FreeHydroCells’ Project. This 26-month, fixed-term, whole-time post will focus on the rational design and 3D printing of microlattice electrodes for the efficient harnessing of renewable solar energy to split water and convert it into chemical energy, specifically hydrogen fuel. The project is part of a multi-partner EU consortium with a collaborative research approach.

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.

Job Description:

Post-Doctoral Researcher – Horizon Europe ‘FreeHydroCells’ Project

The Post-Doctoral Researcher will play a crucial role in the ‘FreeHydroCells’ Project by:

  • Rationally designing and 3D printing microlattice electrodes with varying properties.
  • Coating these electrodes with materials provided by project partners.
  • Conducting electrochemical and photochemical water splitting experiments.
  • Utilizing broadband acoustic resonance dissolution spectroscopy (BARDS) for real-time gas evolution monitoring.
  • Collaborating with partners from Tyndall National Institute, CEA (France), AMO and RTWH (Germany), and CNR (Italy).

Salary: €42,031 – €48,427 per annum (IUA PD1 Salary Scale)
