Post-Doctoral Scholar in Veterinary Medicine: The Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine at The Ohio State University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Scholar to join a CDC-funded project team. The successful candidate will contribute to the evaluation of rodent-targeted vaccines for reducing the risk of tick-borne disease in residential areas, working under the supervision of Dr. Risa Pesapane in the Parasite and Pathogen Ecology (PPE) Lab.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral degree in the biological sciences or related fields.
  • Fieldwork experience involving the trapping and/or handling of vertebrate animals.
  • Evidence of leadership and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Job Description: The Post-Doctoral Scholar will conduct a study on the efficacy of rodent bait containing an oral vaccine against Borrelia burgdorferi on the reduction of nymphal tick infection prevalence in residential areas. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring a team of undergraduate technicians, participating in fieldwork activities such as homeowner recruitment, bait station deployment, small mammal trapping, and tick collection, analyzing data, developing protocols, attending meetings, contributing to manuscript preparation, and supporting grant applications.
